As a writer and journalist I seek to make a difference in peoples lives and in the world around. I like to ask the questions and to use my skills to write and present material which looks behind the issues and is of real benefit to the community.
- I currently edit a large circulation Church magazine which seeks to keep people informed about goings on in the local Church.
- I am experienced in writing about ecology, renewable energy, and the environment. I wrote for the New Zealand magazine Eco Living for several years, writing a political column and articles on wind energy, solar water heating, the Kyoto agreement and the environment.
- As a journalist for a local newspaper I chased up contentious issues, from the local Council wanting to sell public land, to a cricket club wanting to extend on to a popular beach area, and the proposed sale of Regional Park land into private hands. In all these articles my aim was to be fair and get to the truth of the matter.
- Spiritual and personal growth is a huge interest of mine and I have experience in writing in this field. As Editor for the Churches Education Commission I coordinated the writing of material for use by religious education teachers in New Zealand and Australian State schools. I was Editor of Harvest Field, the New Zealand Presbyterian Womens magazine for three years, and during this time I wrote articles on issues as varied as journal writing, Christian growth, and interviews with people acting out their faith in the community.
- I have also written for Radio and was political journalist for three years for Radio Rhema, a Christian radio station in New Zealand.
Writing and presenting faith stories for children is something I get great satisfaction from and I also enjoy writing spiritual reflections for adults.
Other areas I enjoy writing about are parenting and education. .
I am always seeking to develop my writing and, through it, make an impact for good
